The coarse particles settle to the bottom of the vessel and are scraped by a set of blades. The fine particles are carried over the edge of the classifier. This is how the offered rake classifier works. On the other hand, a bowl classifier, as the name implies is a shallow bowl with a concave bottom which holds the liquid solid suspension and the coarse particles fall to the bottom where they meet at a central discharge point and the fine particles overflow the edges and are collected. The offer bowl and rake classifiers are used for dewatering applications.
